Summer 2016 Stitch Fix Review

Hi there everyone! I’ve been totally slacking on posting these reviews (probably to the delight of everyone who is here for baking, but a lot of people come here for stitch fix review honest!). I’ve basically been moving and baking a lot and haven’t really carved out time. But I’ve gotten some ridiculously cute items in my last 3 boxes and I now that I’m moved I can’t help but share my summer 2016 stitch fix review.

What is stitch fix? It’s a box of 5 items (clothes, accessories, shoes!), picked personally for you by your stylist. You fill out a style profile, pin some things on pinterest, and get a box full of amazing clothes sent right to your door – once every 2-3 weeks, once a month, once every two months, or however frequently you want!. There’s a $20 styling fee that gets waived if you purchase anything, and if you keep all 5 items in your box, you get 25% off. You can even tell your stylist about things you’re looking for, or events you have coming up, before your box is styled so they can cater it towards that!

My stylist is Margaret and she’s been great at picking out fabulous items for me. I basically told her the last 3 boxes just to do her thing and I’ve loved so much. I kept all 5 items in one box, 2 amazing pieces in the next, and I really really wanted to keep all 5 in the latest box, but budget really prevented me from it. So I returned a couple really cute items.

But before I get started into this review I wanted to tell you guys about a new box service I started using called Book of the Month (they’re not sponsoring me I just really like them). Basically, every month a panel of judges select 5 books. You pick one and it gets shipped to you and you can add additional books for $9.99. You pay a membership fee, which is cheaper than the cost of the lovely hardback books they send you.

I really love reading but tend to fall of the reading band wagon. So I love the idea of this service because 1. It’ll get me actually trying to read a book a month and 2. It’s going to expose me to books maybe I wouldn’t have picked up on my own. If you sign up using my links here, I get a one of those additional books for free, and I’ll love you and be grateful to you forever! Plus right now they have a 30% off 3 months + a free adorable beach tote deal going when you use the code 30TOTE at checkout.

These first five items were part of a “you do you but maybe keep it cheap” box. At the end, with the discount it was under $200 and I legit wear 4/5 of these items all the time.

Maud Mixed Material Knit Top – $48

Maud Mixed Material Knit Top

First things first, let’s ignore the total mess in the background. By I’m moved in, I mean my whole life is still in boxes and I need to get my act together. HOWEVER, this top is so cute. Look at how cute it is. Like, I love everything about it. The pocket, the polkadots (because duh i love polkadots), how soft it is.

I’d normally be a little put off by the sheer back but it’s necessary here to stop it from looking like a tent. Basically love it 100%.

Kamala Skinny Jean – $68

And while we’re at it, let’s talk about those jeans.

Kamala Skinny Jean

Like come on, I love the higher waist and it’s the perfect new edition to my pants color wheel.

Shanina Back Detail Tank – $48

Shanina Back Detail Tank

Honestly, this was my least favorite thing of the bunch. Like, who really wears spaghetti straps any more? But it was cheaper to keep it and it’s nice and casual

Shanina Back Detail Tank

The back’s alright, the color looks good on me, and I’m kinda on board with it.

Betsey Abstract Stripe Fit & Flare Dress – $68

Betsey Abstract Stripe Fit & Flare Dress

This dress I’m totally in love with. Like it’s a little short but the color and the textured stripes and the fit. I love it

The material is also nice and substantial. It has a really cute exposed zipper in the back. I’m all on board.

Next box!

Elmar Embroidered Cutout Blouse – $64

Elmar Embroidered Cutout Blouse

I’m basically always in need of all weather nicer tops to wear to work. That’s what this is. I love the way it falls and it’s nice and light. The sleeve details are very cute

So I was totally up for keeping this. It’s not like, a top I’m blown away by, but it’s a top I’ll wear to work all the time (I do) and I need tops like that in my life.

Addae Knit Dress – $78

Addae Knit Dress

This dress though, I am 1000% in love with. You may be thinking, Kathleen why do you like this dress so much? Like it’s fine but to love it?? Well let me tell you, the fabric is substantial and not flimsy, it’s the perfect length so it’s not too long and not too short for work. That’s hard to find for me. Also, it has sleeves so I can wear it on it’s own to work.

Plus it’s like, honestly adorable. My boyfriend loves it. I feel great wearing it. I wear it like every other week. It’s the perfect dress.

And onto my most recent box!

Addison Skinny Jean – $88

Addison Skinny Jean

So, around this time last year I got sent a pair of green skinny jeans. You’re probably wondering why I kept another pair of green skinnies. Well let me tell you, the ones I got last year are totally unstretchy denim and they’re brown in certain light. These get greener in different lighting and they’re so stretchy and comfortable. They’re a rayon blend and I adore it. They don’t totally bag at the knees like most of my jeans after a time. And they’re comfortable all the time.

Aldith Button Down Blouse – $58

Aldith Button Down Blouse

Love love love. This top wasn’t on pinterest or google when I searched it so I had no idea what I was getting. But it’s great! My arms fit in the arm holes while rolled (something that never happens) and I love the purple and black plaiding. My one complaint is that it’s sheer. But I love it and will wear it all the time. See above about needing work tops for all weather. That’s this!

Gibbs Tulip Sleeve Blouse – $64

Gibbs Tulip Sleeve Blouse

Another work top! This is a gorgeous purpley color. Again, this wasn’t on pinterest so I didn’t know what I was getting into but I was so happily surprised. I has that adorable pleating detail on the front and the back and it’s falls in a nice and flattering length. And it’s the right length. Love it.

Now for the things I sadly didn’t keep because of price

Rudey Leather Lace Up Heels – $140

Rudey Leather Lace Up Heels

Real life question, why did I even try these on. I cannot, 100% cannot, spend $140 on shoes. But oh man they fit great, they’re comfortable, they’re so cute…. I was like, so torn. If they were $60 cheaper and flat I would have kept them without hesitation

Kimmie Chambray Dress – $64

Kimmie Chambray Dress

Again, this dress is really cute. I probably would have worn it all the time. But along with the shoes, I had to return something else so it came down to a battle between this dress and the tulip sleeved top. My boyfriend (who I never ask for fashion things) told me it wasn’t his favorite dress and kind of looked look it was falling apart, and the bottom was too plain. So that was my reasoning for returning this one. Plus I can wear the top all year round, while this dress it’d be harder to wear in the winter. So sorry, bye dress.
